  • Handling matters concerning installation and operation of fire water supply equipment, conducting geological surveys on such equipment and securing fire lanes
  • Proposing a bill on control of hazardous substances; managing the bill
  • Researching the properties of hazardous substances; managing a hazardous substance database
  • Handling matters concerning establishment and implementation of safety plans to prevent accidents in petrochemical complexes and hazardous facilities
  • Developing standards for classification and labeling of hazardous substances and related international cooperation
  • Developing and distributing responses to hazardous substances, toxic chemicals and toxic gases; handling matters concerning emergency safety inspections and countermeasures to prevent accidents related to such substances and gases
  • Investigating, analyzing, identifying and retaining information on causes of fires
  • Handling matters concerning establishment and operation of the National Fire Data System; managing and analyzing national fire statistics
  • Handling matters concerning development of certified fire investigators as well as management of a professional certification system for fire investigation
  • Managing special judicial police offices in firefighting; supporting and carrying out arson investigations
